Employee Profile: Austin Wiberg

Austin WibergAustin Wiberg’s career at Minnesota Lakes Bank is on the rise: as of February 1st, Minnesota Lakes Bank’s Board of Directors promoted Austin to Assistant Vice President in Business Banking. While he is understandably proud of the promotion, he acknowledges that the duties he’s been performing as credit analyst has prepared him well for this new assignment.

“I’m essentially rebranding myself to be more versatile as I work with our business owners” Austin explained. “In addition to understanding the credit needs of a business, I’ll be able to suggest additional services like credit cards, mobile banking and other deposit products. Our customer service representatives are the experts in delivering those services, but it will be my job to have an initial conversation with the business owner and help guide them to the best product.”

Austin will have worked at Minnesota Lakes Bank for five years this May. During this time, he has worked closely with the lending team and their business customers.

“I am proud to be part of Minnesota Lakes Bank’s lending team,” said Austin. “The team has bought into the Bank’s mission to proactively provide exceptional local banking services to our business community. We have processes in place the team understands that helps make sure we provide consistent service as customer relationships are built.”

“I look forward to the challenges this new position presents,” said Austin. “I’ll be able to use the connections I’ve built in the community to good advantage, and now I’ll have the opportunity to finish the deal.”

“I really appreciate working for Minnesota Lakes Bank.  I have been able to learn lending in a hands-on approach,” Austin added. “l don’t believe the same opportunities would exist if I worked for a larger bank.”

Austin earned a business administration degree with a minor in accounting from Bemidji State University. He worked at an upscale restaurant in Bemidji, Tutto Bene, for four years to help pay his way through college. After graduation in 2018, Austin accepted a teller position at Minnesota Lakes Bank, which he held for three months before his promotion to credit analyst.

Austin loves the outdoors and looks forward to heading out west later this winter for a snowboarding trip with college buddies. And, to his surprise, he has learned to enjoy running, a pastime he took up during COVID. He’s committed to running six days a week to prepare for his second half-marathon later this year.

One aspect of living in the Lake Minnetonka area is the participate in community activities. Austin is active in the Lions Club, the Mound Spirit of the Lakes Committee, and the Delano and Wayzata Chambers of Commerce.
